Canvas TemplatesUsing a template as you prepare your course can serve the following goals:
The main thing to remember about using a template is that (almost) everything in the template is completely customizable. You are not expected to use the template exactly as it's provided. It serves as a scaffold in the design process, but it is not meant to be the final product. You always have full control over the content of your course. |
We currently have three templates to choose from: one for immersion courses, one for immersion+Sync (hybrid) courses, and one for fully-online courses. If you would like to view the templates from the student perspective, here are the self-enroll links:

Syllabus Templates
The Canvas templates come loaded with syllabus templates. A syllabus template can save you time, since it is already loaded with all the required language, and formatted for ADA compliance. The only thing you need to do is fill in your name and course-specific information.
If you would just like to download the syllabus templates without access the Canvas templates, you can simply click the links below:

How to Request
If you would like to request a template before you start working on the Canvas part of your course, there are three options to do so. Choose one of the following:
Option A: During the Course Request Process
Option B: After a blank shell has been requestedThis process is for courses you have already requested, which are currently empty in Canvas. (If you follow this process, and you already have information in your Canvas course, the Home Page will change, the course settings will change, and the Syllabus will be overwritten; however, everything else will remain, and you may end up with duplication of items.)
Option C: Contact an IDIf you have already developed a course and would like to retrofit certain template elements into it, you will need to work with an instructional designer to discuss your needs.
